20 01 07 + 10 - 13 MONSOON

when i was living up a tree all that time ago in newbury. we used to talk all night about climate change and what we'd done to the planet

then i drifted away cos no one seemed to have a sense of humour-

after 9/11 a friend happened to say that he thought climate change was much more of a worry than any terrorism

it was a dinner party when someone said there was still no real proof for climate change, it was the ides of march, - scare mongering

mongering

i just made a piece, a modern opera, with some friends about underground rivers in london and a new monsoon season of gales and flooding coming our way. u can find it at http://www.andwhilelondonburns.com

yesterday at middday our one hundred year old one hundred foot australian eucalyptus was lifted out of the ground and cast a hundred yards further down the garden leaving a six feet crater and a new view.

i know eucalyptus are greedy for water with shallow roots and heavy oil laden limbs but even so..

why is green politics so po faced and unfunny?

better go to bed theres more gales forecast

all night the house has been out at sea

night

happiness is just the size of the gap between who u are and what u want for yourself x

Only one comment:

Climate change, global warming….........while Europe is being hit with wild and woolly weather, Australia is having her fair share but at the opposite end of the spectrum!!!! I know its summer and we usually have hot days, but yesterday we had 45 degrees, today we had a milder day of 35 plus humidity(gotta love Sydney and her humid weather). On top of the unusually warmer than normal weather, we have fires burning out of control around Sydney, trains were cut of today in one area. I could see the fires burning in the distance from my home, rather unnerving!!! We have fires burning in Tasmania and Victoria and have lost 1000’s of hectares of bushland, including, surrounding areas of Thredbo(ski resort in winter and bush walking reserve during summer) not to mention some beautiful bush in the Snowny Mountain River area. I spoke to my Dad on Saturday, he lives in a small country town named Port Pirie in South Australia. It borders on desert, so apart from her horrific hot days(no humidity), she has been in drought for 4 years. Their water source comes from the mighty Murray River(not so mighty these days and almost bone dry!!!) It appears the drought may be breaking…......which means they got flooded along with other surrounding areas. Most of which is still cut off.The city of Adelaide which gets its water supply from the Murray Darling River is nearly out of water and they are going to build a de-salination plant as they are with Sydney. The weather just seems so different to when i was growing up and has definately changed. On another note, sorry to her about the loss of your Eucalyptus tree, its such a shame to lose a grand old lady of 100yrs. They are a truly spectacular tree, (maybe i just have a soft spot for them) as i know they can be a complete nusiance too…....Hope it didnt damage anything else on the way down. Anyway, i hope the weather begins to change soon for you all and us:0)
